A bit about me and my approach

Thoughts That Guide My Practice

“ Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate”

-Carl Jung

What feels like a "problem" today was likely a solution that helped you survive something difficult. Your mind developed these patterns for good reasons - they were protecting you from something. Together, we'll explore what these patterns were trying to accomplish and use those insights to build better tools for your path forward.

"Traveller, there is no path, the path is made by walking." — Antonio Machado

New paths are made by walking, not wishing. Real change requires movement, not just understanding. While we'll explore your story and patterns, we'll focus on building practical skills you can use every day.

My Approach

I believe therapy works best when we collaborate to understand your unique story and build practical skills for change. Drawing from attachment theory, DBT, parts work, coherence therapy, and polyvagal theory, I create a personalized approach that honors both your past patterns and your growth potential.

Together, we'll explore the patterns that no longer serve you and develop tools to help you move forward on your path. Every pattern tells a story - let's write the next chapter together.

Trixie has taught me that sometimes when there are no words, showing up just as yourself matters.

  • My journey

I'm a fellow human who has lived a life full of struggles and joys. I believe everyone carries trauma and grief as it's part of being human. Healing can start when pain goes from "hidden to heard," but requires seeing patterns that keep you stuck and understanding the story behind them. Together we'll identify what's holding you back and find tools to build a path forward.

As a neurodivergent parent, I understand life's complications firsthand. I recently graduated from my masters in counselling program. My background includes mental health advocacy, family liaison work for school, victim services, youth coaching, crisis counseling, and my most recent nonprofit internship experience. Working with LGBTQ+ individuals, neurodiverse people, youth and families has shown me that everyone's unique story matters.

I'm curious about who you are and what you've been through. We'll examine your story honestly, identify unhelpful patterns, and use tools that actually work for you. I also offer youth counselling services.

  • The real me is...

I mix serious conversations with fun and a little humor because life's heavy enough already. I believe in being real.

My undergrad is in Biochemistry, so I love researching and diving into how things work - brains included.

I live in rural Alberta (lived in Saskatchewan too). I grew up with rural roots as my family immigrated here. We had ties to the military life. Growing up, mental health challenges were part of our reality. These experiences taught me firsthand about resilience, the importance of support, and how mental health affects the whole family.

You'll now find me walking my dog, cheering at my kids' sports games, baking, and spending time with family.

I've been through ups and downs in my own life. I know reaching out is not easy, and since a lot of times our pain has been in relation to someone else, trust is so important.

I'm committed to working for you and being supportive. I think we can figure this out together. Change is hard, but therapy works best when we show up as ourselves so we can figure things out together.
